Flavoured Semolina/Rawa/Sooji Kheer (Flavoured Shooji Payesh) or Sheera

Hi Friends,

The other day, I had this craving for something sweet but did not want to have something that was plain. So I looked up into my small pantry and with the limited ingredients I found came up with this idea of making myself a bowl of sweet flavored semolina kheer or Sheera in Maharashtra. (Popularly known as Shoojir Payesh in Bengali).

So lets get started,

You will need:

  • 3 tbsp of Semolina (Sooji/Rawa) (Any Variety)
  • Sugar as per your taste
  • 3/4 cup of cow's milk
  • 1 tbsp of clarified butter or ghee (Refined oil is fine)
  • Flavored custard powder
  • Some cashew nuts

Method:

In a pan, heat some ghee/clarified butter and add the semolina. Roast the semolina till its coated well with the ghee and lightly changes color (as in the picture). Add sugar depending on how much sweet you want the kheer to be. I added about 3 tsp of sugar. Mix everything together till the sugar crystals mixes well with the semolina.

Next, in a bowl, mix 4 tsp of flavored custard powder along with cold milk and mix well. I am using the aamras flavored custard powder as mango happens to be my favorite flavor/fruit in the whole wide world.

As the semolina is mixed with the sugar and roasted well, reduce the heat of your stove and add the milk and custard powder mixture to the semolina and continue stirring. Stirring continuously at this point is important or it may result to lumps. Mix well.

Note: If you find the kheer is dry for you taste, you can add more milk at this point. If you do so, taste the kheer and add little more sugar if needed.

When you reach your desired consistency, take the kheer off the flame and serve hot garnished with some cashew nuts,

Hope, that serves your craving for something sweet with a twist. If so, try this at home and do let me know how it turned out for you by posting your valuable comments. Schezwan Potato Fry Recipe

Hi Guys.....

Here I am back with a yummy and probably the easiest recipe.. (for lazy people like me)..Bachelors/Spinsters/Not-Wanting-To-Cooksters should love this!!! :D

Honestly, I am a little lazy when it comes to cooking everyday, so its necessary for me to come up with recipes which gets ready in a jiffy and also caters to the needs of my nasty palate. And so I came up with this recipe when I laid my hands on Ching's Secret Schezwan Chutney. It's my current favorite thing in the kitchen plus it has Ranveer Singh on it *Wink* *Wink* :D

So lets get started....

You will need:

1 tbsp Cooking Oil (Any kind) (I used mustard oil kacchi ghani)
Chopped spring onion
Onion (I used the onion that came with the spring onion)
Some Green Chillies
3 nos. medium boiled potatoes (cubed)
1 tsp Turmeric
Salt to taste
2 tsp Chings Schezwan Chutney
Coriander leaves (Optional)

Method:

In a wok heat the oil, When the oil is hot enough, throw in the chopped onions and fry till semi- translucent (little bit soft), that way you will still feel the crunch of the onions.

Something like this:

Now, add the spring onions (the green part) along with the green chillies and saute for another 1 minute. Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder, salt to taste and 2 tsp of Ching's Secret Schezwan Chutney and mix everything together well.

Add the boiled potatoes at last and coat the potatoes well with the spices. There's a reason that the potatoes go in last. Since the potatoes are boiled adding them in the beginning will result in a mashed mass, which we don't want.

2 more minutes in the wok and we get this

Tadaa!! Our Schezwan Potato Fry is ready!!

And I made some Green Moong Dal fry to relish with my Schezwan Potato Fry (I am not that lazy you see). Now I need some steamed rice, and I am done for the day. :) :)

Do try this guys, and please do let me if you like this recipe by commenting and sharing this post. That would really help me.

Disclaimer: This recipe is  my own idea which came to because of my lazyness. If it matches with any one else's, then its a mere coincidence. And also I have not been sponsored by any person or company for sharing this recipe. Ching's Secret Schezwan Chutney is my personal favorite; you are free to use any other variety of the same.

Lots of love and stay healthy.

Pedicure with things available at home ...

Feet Model : Me (Happily)

Hi Beautiful People out there...
This is my very first post on my blog. I hope you like it and if it helps you in any tiniest way I would be so glad. I am not very good at writing, so bear with my plain language.
Well, I am gonna start with the lowest part of our body, yes! you guessed it right.. Our Feet. No one can deny the importance of this part of the body in our everyday life, right? Then why do we often forget to pay equal attention to our beautiful feet? Just like our face, and other parts, our feet also play a significant role in creating an impression on people we meet. Personally, whenever I meet people who have cracked, dirty heels and quiet evidently ignored feet, I lose my confidence on their hygiene factor. Also, those cracked feet would not be a very good match to those beautiful Jimmy Choos and Pradas or for that matter any beautiful footwear you own. Therefore without any further delay lets get started for a rejuvenating experience for our lovely feet...

You would need:

Step 1. Nail Polish/Enamel Remover

Remove all your nail paints with a good nail polish remover.

Step 2. A tub of warm water, shampoo/body wash of your choice, a foot scrubber/pumice stone and a tooth brush.

Take a tub of warm water and pour a dollop of your favourite shampoo or body wash in the water and soak your feet for 15 minutes. The warm soapy water will soften your dry skin and cuticles and the release the dirt of your feet. After 15 minutes scrub the heel of your feel or any dry skin patches with a scrubber while the skin is soft. Use the tooth brush to brush  Use the tooth brush to brush our nails and corners of your nails.

Step 3. Towel and a nail clipper

After step 2, you need to dry your feet with a soft towel and clip you nail into shape while they are still soft. Also you can use a cuticle stick to gently push your cuticles.

Step 4. Again a tub of luke warm water, few drops of any body oil and essential oil of your choice and a body/foot scrub.

In the tub of warm water pour few drops of body oil and essential oil of your choice. This step is to rejuvenate. Soak your feet for good 10 minutes. Don't forget to play your favorite music on your phone. Now relax. After 10 minutes, scrub your leg (upto the knee) in a circular motion with a body scrub/foot scrub. That will impart a glow to the skin of that area and stimlate blow flow.
Alternatively, if you do not have a foot scrub/body scrub, you can prepare it at home. Take 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of milk and a teaspoon of sugar/salt. Mix it and there you go..exotic body scrub ready.
Wash your feet in the tub and dry them with a towel.

Step 5. Foot cream

Massage your feet with a good foot cream or any massage cream for about 3 minutes or till the cream is absorbed.

Step 6. Foot spray(optional), Socks

Spray your feet with a refreshing foot spray (Optional) and put on a clean cotton socks. This with help in keeping your feet soft and supple. I suggest not to apply nail color immediately and to let your nail breathe for a day. That would help your nail from getting brittle, flaky or discolored.

Step 7: Next day. Base coat and Nail color

Don't forget to apply base coat before you apply a nail color of your choice.

Important: I suggest doing this pedicure at night, before you sleep, that way your feet gets enough time to relax. Also if you have heavily cracked heels I suggest you to repeat this method twice a week and on normal days wash your feet clean and apply a foot cream religiously. Otherwise, doing this pedicure twice fortnightly is perfectly fine.

Lots of love. Enjoy. Stay beautiful.
